A hilltop museum as known for its gardens as its collection
In brief
A museum complex of white stone pavilions designed by Richard Meier above Brentwood. Known as much for the views over the city and the ocean from its terraces as for its European paintings, photography and decorative arts. Admission is free; a tram carries visitors up from the car park below.

Good to know
- Entry is free but parking is paid, and spaces are easier early in the day.
- The gardens and terraces are at their best close to sunset.
