Borchardt
Berlin's backstage canteen since 1853
In brief
A grand cafe-restaurant a few steps from Gendarmenmarkt in Mitte, trading since 1853. With its stucco ceilings and mirrored hall it's where politics and film premieres eat — who is two tables away matters as much as the plate. The schnitzel is called the city's best, though its price is just as much discussed.
