The Balvenie Distillery
The distillery that still malts its own barley
In brief
In Dufftown, sharing a site with its neighbour, this is one of the very few distilleries that still runs the whole chain in house — its own floor maltings, cooperage and coppersmith, which is exactly what the tours are built around. Groups are kept small, so places are scarce.
Compiled from public sources — not my own note.
Good to know
- Weekdays only; normally closed at weekends.
- In summer you may need to book months ahead.
- Eighteen-plus, and access to the historic production areas is limited.
